WET Engineering contracted with the fountain contractor to provide design and permitting services for this new feature for a renovation to one of the City of Savannah’s historic squares. The 800 sf interactive fountain consisted of an array of in-ground jets with LED lighting. The jets can be sequenced by a central controller. It was constructed on a raised paver system with the reservoir located beneath. The recirculation and feature pump draw water from the reservoir.  All equipment is housed in a self-contained vault.

WET handled coordination and production of complete construction drawings including civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural plans. The fountain manufacturer’s plans were reviewed by WET and integrated with the construction set. Permitting was done through the Chatham County Environmental Health Department. WET assisted the reviewers with ensuring the project would meet state codes, which do not contain pertinent requirements for interactive water features. The fountain opened in spring 2010.
