WET acted as a subconsultant to the fountain equipment manufacturer for two fountains for this park that is the centerpiece of the Tampa Riverwalk. One of the fountains was a ‘Louver’ fountain with a series of parallel rectangular orifices cut into a concrete paver deck, each with several animated fountain jets. The second, the ‘Mist’ fountain, is adjacent to the Riverwalk and is more subdued, with a cooling mist emitted from a matrix of nozzles mounted below the paver deck.  The fountain equipment was installed in self contained fiberglass vaults.  Both systems employ pressure sand filters for water treatment and UV systems with backup sodium hypochlorite injection for disinfection.  In addition to coordination with the equipment manufacturer during the design process, WET provided permitting services through the Hillsborough County Health Department (HCHD).  The fountains opened in the spring of 2010 to rave reviews from the Tampa community.
